Event Overview
The Kenya National Youth & Cadets Chess Championships brings together the nation's top young chess players who qualified through regional qualifiers. This FIDE-rated tournament features categories for Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 in both Open and Girls sections.
Who Can Participate?

Players who qualified through regional qualifiers with 2 points or more

Defending national champions in respective age groups

Kenyan Nationals under 18 years (age eligibility as of 1st January 2026)

Foreign residents may participate as additional players but are not eligible for National Champion title
Registration Details

Deadline: Monday, 30th March 2026 at 6:00pm (strict)

Registration Fee: KES 1,500 per player

Accompanying Persons (Parents/Patrons/Coaches): KES 500 (one-off accreditation fee)

Non-CKF Members: Additional KES 350

Dress Code: Formal school uniform with logo (mandatory)

Proof of Age: Birth certificate may be required by Chief Arbiter

Accommodation: Available at Mang'u High School - KES 800/day full board

Play-offs (8th - 11th April 2026)
Top 11 Kenyan nationals in each category qualify for round-robin play-offs to determine:

Invited slots for international events

No registration fee for play-offs
