The 3rd Kenya Colleges and Universities FIDE Rated Chess Championship 2026 brings together the best chess talent from colleges and universities across the country for a highly competitive, FIDE-rated event.
The championship will be played over 8 rounds, with each round featuring a 90-minute time control, ensuring high-quality classical chess and official FIDE rating opportunities for participants.
In addition to individual and team competition, the event offers attractive cash prizes across multiple categories, including Open, Ladies, Best Unrated, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Trophies will be awarded to the Best University/College in both the Open and Ladies sections, alongside certificates for all participants and participating institutions.
The winning team from the championship will earn the honor of representing Kenya at the Commonwealth Games in Sri Lanka, making this a prestigious pathway event for student chess players.
